Backrooms Official Trailer Drops Ahead of Global Release

A24 releases Backrooms trailer, with PH cinemas set for June 3 via CreaZion Studios after its May 29 U.S. debut.

CreaZion Studios is set to bring A24’s Backrooms to Philippine cinemas this June, as the official trailer for the viral horror adaptation has finally dropped online. The film is based on the internet phenomenon expanded by Kane Parsons.

Scheduled for a U.S. release on May 29, 2026, the film follows a psychologist, played by Renate Reinsve, who investigates a missing patient after a strange doorway in a furniture showroom leads her into the Backrooms, an endless, reality-bending maze of empty, liminal spaces.

Rather than retelling its internet origins, the film builds on the Backrooms’ defining sense of liminal horror, translating its eerie, in-between spaces into a more expansive cinematic scale.

The trailer highlights this shift, blending widescreen visuals with grainy, VHS-style footage that echoes the franchise’s found-footage roots, alongside glimpses of warped environments and unstable realities.

Joining Reinsve is a cast led by Chiwetel Ejiofor and Mark Duplass, anchoring the film’s psychological tension.

The film will be released in Philippine theaters on June 3 under CreaZion Studios, just days after its international debut, positioning it as part of the distributor’s continued slate of global titles for local audiences.

Produced by A24 alongside Atomic Monster, 21 Laps Entertainment, and Chernin Entertainment, Backrooms marks a rare transition from internet-born horror to a full theatrical experience.

With its official trailer now out, Backrooms sets up a cinematic take on a concept that thrives on unease, now inviting audiences to step into the maze on a much larger scale.
