Disney Reworks Iconic Scenes With Sign Language Versions

Disney reanimates Encanto, Moana, and Frozen scenes in ASL, bringing sign language into the storytelling itself.

The Walt Disney Company is revisiting some of its most recognizable moments—this time through movement and accessibility.

Select scenes from Encanto, Moana, and Frozen have been reanimated to include American Sign Language (ASL), embedding the interpretation directly into the visuals.

Among the reworked sequences is Encanto’s “We Don’t Talk About Bruno,” a number already known for its layered storytelling and ensemble delivery. The addition of ASL introduces a new dimension to how the scene is experienced, turning gesture into a central narrative element.

Rather than placing accessibility as an add-on, the reanimated scenes integrate it into the structure of the performance itself. Characters move through both spoken and signed expression, allowing the storytelling to expand visually.

The initiative reflects a shift in how animated content can be adapted—not by changing the story, but by widening the ways it can be understood and engaged with.

As these versions circulate, they add another layer to films that audiences already know, offering a different entry point into familiar material.
