Filipino Excellence on Global Map: ‘ZsaZsa’ Lands to Annecy!

Our bonggang superhero ZsaZsa Zaturnnah is heading to a much wider mission and audience as she lands to Annecy, France.

Pinoy superhero moment is at its peak as ZsaZsa Zaturnnah, co-produced by Rocketsheep Studio and CreaZion Studios, is officially heading to the Annecy International Animation Film Festival for its international premiere, marking a major win for Filipino animation on the global stage.

Widely known as the most prestigious animation festival in the world, Annecy is where the best of global animation lands. So for a Filipino film to be part of that lineup is an immediate winning moment for local excellence to be channeled. Directed by Avid Liongoren, the film is powered by producers that’ve been actively pushing Filipino stories that matter into the global conversation.

At its core, ZsaZsa Zaturnnah is loud, campy, and deeply rooted in Filipino culture. It blends humor and bold LGBTQ+ storytelling, turning a beloved local icon into something that resonates beyond borders. It’s about identity, transformation, and owning your power, all wrapped in a visually vibrant, unapologetic narrative.

The journey to this moment wasn’t instant. The film was developed over six years, with Liongoren and his team navigating funding challenges and industry hesitations, especially for a queer superhero story. Still, they pushed through, building the project with passion, persistence, and support from the community.

For CreaZion Studios Inc., the film reflects a bigger goal: bringing original Filipino IP to international audiences. The Annecy premiere proves that stories rooted in local culture can connect globally, no translation needed.

With this milestone, ZsaZsa Zaturnnah isn’t just premiering at a festival, it’s opening doors. Filipino animation is stepping into a bigger arena, and this time, it’s bringing its own voice, its own stories, and its own kind of hero.
