Fresh off their musical nominations and milestones, Cup of Joe enters a brighter, more reflective chapter through their newly dropped EP.
Following the emotional weight of Silakbo, rising OPM band Cup of Joe is stepping into a more restorative era with the release of their new EP, Sandali, a project that exudes reflection, resilience, and quiet healing.
Released ahead of their upcoming SANDALI: Cup of Joe Fest on May 23 at the Philippine Sports Stadium, the EP arrives during a particularly massive moment for the band, whose momentum continues to grow locally and internationally. The group was also recently nominated at the Music Awards Japan 2026, where their track “Multo” earned a nod for Best Song Asia.
In a recent press conference, Sandali reflects the shared experiences, growing pains, and realizations that shaped them over the years, turning the EP into what feels less like a dramatic reinvention and more like emotional progression.
Where Silakbo explored grief through intense emotional descent, Sandali feels intentionally lighter without abandoning the band’s introspective core. The title track opens the project with full-band energy centered on resilience and loyalty, before transitioning into the nostalgia-driven “Pamahiin,” the reflective weight of “Kung Payagan,” and the emotional tension embedded within “Lalayo.” The EP ultimately resolves with “Isang Daan,” a track about pushing through fear in search of clarity and direction, it can also be a word play as the phrase can either be translated “one way,” or “a hundred.”
Sonically, the band preserves the melodic vulnerability that shaped much of their earlier work while introducing brighter synth textures and more rhythm-forward arrangements. The result is an EP that still carries emotional depth but feels more open-air, communal, and festival-ready, fitting for a band currently scaling larger stages and audiences.
At a time when emotionally driven OPM continues resonating strongly among younger listeners, Sandali also reflects why Cup of Joe’s storytelling remains effective with the band understanding how to make deeply personal emotions feel collective.
