P-pop girl group MNL48 Ends Group Activities After 8 years

Through a statement from the MNL48 Facebook page and website, MNL48 announces disbandment and apologizes to supporters.

MNL48, dubbed the “Pioneers of modern P-pop,” announces the end of their group activities after their 8-year journey.
The MNL48 Facebook page and website posted a statement regarding the status of the group. In the statement, P.O.S Inc. stated that the management has made the difficult decision to conclude the girl group’s activities by the end of May 2026.

The decision was made due to the sustainability of the management structure, operating environments, and other conditions to sustain the group stably. “We have come to the conclusion that it would be difficult to continue MNL48’s activities going forward,” the statement added.
“As management, we have done our utmost to carry MNL48 forward in the best possible way. We deeply apologize for not being able to fully meet everyone’s expectations in the end,” P.O.S Inc. concluded before thanking supporters until the very end and apologizing for the sudden announcement.
The statement also announced that the music video for “Pag-ibig Fortune Cookie” released on YouTube is the MNL48’s final work as a group.
MNL48 is well known for being the first idol group made in the Philippines in 2018. The girl group is considered the group that paved the way for the modern era of the Philippines pop industry and P-pop groups. MNL48 is the sister group of AKB48 founded in 2006.
