Get to Know Cheska Fausto Beyond Her Kontrabida Roles

Known for portraying formidable rivals and memorable antagonists, Cheska is revealing a side of herself that we rarely get to see.

For many viewers, Cheska Fausto is instantly recognizable as the woman who knows how to play the villain.

Whether she’s portraying a sharp-tongued rival or a scene-stealing antagonist, the young actress has made a name for herself through characters that leave a lasting impression. It’s a reputation that has followed her off screen, where some people assume she’s just as intimidating as the roles she plays.

In reality, Fausto says the opposite is true. Speaking with ZEEN, the actress shared that playing kontrabida roles has always appealed to her precisely because they allow her to step outside of herself.

“The only reason why I enjoy doing kontrabida roles is because ‘yun ‘yung hindi ko nagagawa in real life,” she said. “People always see na “hindi siya approachable, snobera siya,” but if you get to know me in person, I’m really the opposite.”

That contrast has become one of the defining qualities of Fausto’s career. While audiences associate her with commanding on-screen personas, she approaches every role as an opportunity to inhabit lives far removed from her own. Among the performers she looks up to are the late Cherie Gil and veteran actress Gladys Reyes, whose iconic portrayals of antagonists helped shape generations of Philippine television.

Away from the cameras, however, Fausto finds grounding in something far quieter. She revealed that one of the least visible parts of her life is also one of its most important: her Christian faith. Beginning each day with Bible reading has become a personal ritual that keeps her centered amid the demands of the entertainment industry.

“I think people don’t know that about me because it doesn’t really translate on social media,” she shared, adding that it gives her peace before taking on the day.

Despite branching into lifestyle and beauty content, Fausto remains certain about where her heart lies.

“First love ko talaga ang acting,” she shares with ZEEN. “Whenever I’m on set, parang safe zone ko siya. Parang home.”

That sense of purpose is reflected in the way she has approached her career. Rather than chasing easy labels or limiting herself to a familiar archetype, Fausto has steadily built a body of work that continues to broaden her range as a performer. Each role offers a chance to challenge expectations—not only of the characters she portrays, but also of the actress behind them.

For audiences who have only encountered her through television screens, the contrast can be surprising. The woman behind the calculating glances and confrontational scenes speaks instead about faith, discipline, and the quiet fulfillment she finds in storytelling. It is a reminder that while memorable characters may introduce an actor to audiences, it is authenticity, consistency, and craft that allow a career to endure.
