Carlos Yulo doesn’t just perform but vaults and strikes with intent. In a sport where precision is everything, the 25-year-old Filipino gymnast once again reminded the world that discipline and passion can bring stellar outcomes.
Yulo has bagged yet another gold at the 53rd Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Jakarta, Indonesia on Saturday, October 25 – making a fierce comeback three years after being dethroned by Armenia’s Artur Davtyan in 2021.

Yulo opened strong with an average of 14.866 points, going head-to-head with Davtyan in the duel for the world title. By the final round, Yulo soared to a 15.2 after executing clean landings, powerful vaults, and a calm intensity that secured his chance to clinch the gold.
Davtyan settled for silver, while Ukraine’s Nazar Chepurnyi took bronze.
Yulo is the only Filipino gymnast on the men’s side after his teammates Juancho Miguel Besanam, John Ivan Cruz, and Justine Ace de Leon missed the cut for the event final.
After making a historic win at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics for winning two Olympic gold medals and six World Championship medals, Yulo went home with two medals following his bronze finish in the floor exercise on Friday, October 14.
He is the first artistic gymnast representing the Philippines to win gold at the world championships.
Yulo now has overall won three world titles as he finished first at the floor exercise in 2019 in Germany, making his total medal tally at eight, with two silvers, and three bronzes.
