A PPop Plenary: Senate commends BINI post-Coachella Gig

BINI received a formal Senate commendation following their Coachella performance, calling the recognition a “big deal” for the group.

Nation’s girl group BINI has officially received a commendation from the Philippine Senate following their appearance at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, with the members describing the recognition as both overwhelming and deeply meaningful.

During the Senate session, the group was formally recognized for their historic performance at the global music festival earlier this year, where they became the first Filipino act to perform at Coachella. Senate Resolution No. 370, authored by Senator Bam Aquino, cited the group’s contribution to bringing Filipino music to an international stage.

BINI’s Coachella performances in early April have become a major moment for P-pop online, drawing attention for the group’s synchronized staging, crowd engagement, and performances of tracks like “Pantropiko” and “Salamin, Salamin.” Their set also trended widely across social media during both festival weekends.

The Senate commendation arrives amid a continued expansion of the group’s international visibility. Following Coachella, BINI announced their upcoming Signals World Tour, which kicks off in Manila this June before heading to cities across Asia, North America, and Europe.

Beyond marking another career milestone, the recognition further reflects how BINI’s recent rise has increasingly moved beyond pop success alone, positioning the group within larger conversations surrounding Filipino representation in global music spaces.
