After Weathering Life With ‘Panahon,’ Angela Ken Chooses ‘Tayo Lang’
- September 28, 2026
Seven years after writing “tayo lang,” Angela Ken revisits the OPM gem with a clearer understanding of choosing love on her own terms.
Angela Ken’s “tayo lang” begins with a simple idea: when it comes to love, sometimes the only people who need to understand are the two people in it. Written when Angela was 18, the song looks at what happens when outside opinions, doubts, and expectations start making their way into a relationship. Its answer is equally simple: hayaan mo sila.
She revisited its lyrics and message over time, eventually feeling that both she and the song had arrived at the right moment.

Seven years after its first draft, Ken is releasing the same words with a different understanding of what it means to stay with someone despite the noise around you. For Ken, loving someone means accepting that there will always be doubts and challenges from the outside. What matters is whether the two people involved are willing to keep choosing each other through them.
“Tayo lang” does not ask for everyone’s approval and makes room for the fact that love can be complicated, that other people will have something to say, and that ultimately, they do not get to make the decision for you.

The song was composed by Ken and produced by Shadiel Chan, Ken Jezer Umahon, and Abner Badua, bringing a song that had lived with Ken since 2019 into the present. Its release also arrives after her EP Panahon, which includes “Panahon” and “Baka Bukas.” Across the project, Ken explores different seasons of growing up, from uncertainty and change to acceptance and hope.
If Panahon asks what time does to us, “tayo lang” considers what happens when something survives it.
The song perfectly arrives ahead of Ken’s first headlining concert, “Panahon Na Natin,” on October 18 at the New Frontier Theater. The show will give her a chance to bring the music she has built over the years into a more personal live setting. And somewhere within that setlist is a song that has already lived through one of the longest seasons of her life.
