Alex Eala, Venus Williams Advance to Bad Homburg Quarterfinals

Alex Eala and Venus Williams made a winning start to their doubles campaign at the Bad Homburg Open.

Alex Eala and Venus Williams opened their partnership with a victory, advancing to the doubles quarterfinals of the Bad Homburg Open in Germany.

Following her early exit from the singles competition, Eala teamed up with the seven-time Grand Slam champion for the doubles draw. The duo faced Australia’s Alexandra Osborne and American Catherine Harrison, quickly taking control of the match with a commanding 4-0 lead in the opening set.

After a closely contested second set that was tied at 4-4, Eala and Williams won the final two games to secure the straight-sets victory and book their place in the quarterfinals.

The win provides a boost for Eala, who recently reached a career-high world ranking of No. 30. While the Filipina bowed out in the opening round of the singles event against Elise Mertens, she remained in contention through the doubles tournament.

The victory also marks a successful debut for the Eala-Williams pairing, drawing attention from tennis fans eager to see the rising Filipino star compete alongside one of the sport’s most decorated players.

Eala and Williams are set to face Tereza Mihalikova and Olivia Nicholls in the quarterfinals as they continue their Bad Homburg Open campaign.
