A year after eternal sunshine’s release, Ariana Grande has left fans at awe once again with the release of eternal sunshine deluxe: brighter days ahead. Following her hit, Ariana has added six more songs to this emotional rollercoaster of an album that highlights her dream-like healing.
In brighter days ahead, Ariana continues to confront the intimacy of her relationships and her honest journey towards mourning and moving forward. This deluxe feels more of a retrospection into the first release of eternal sunshine in which intro (end of the world) – extended separates clearly.
Ariana Grande has released a 26-minute short film titled Brighter Days Ahead to accompany the deluxe edition of her album eternal sunshine. The film revisits the character of elderly Peaches, whom viewers may recognize from the music video for we can’t be friends (wait for your love).
In the short film, Peaches returns to Brighter Days, Inc., the facility where her memory of a former boyfriend was erased. Here she is seen watching her saved memories that will then be permanently deleted. The soundtrack of the film consists of tracks from the eternal sunshine album.
The sequence of memories presented in the film includes Childhood Footage, the first memory featuring actual childhood footage of Ariana Grande set to the album’s “Intro (End of the World)”; Performances, the second memory depicting Peaches watching herself perform stripped-down versions of “Eternal Sunshine” and the deluxe track “Dandelion”; the third memory, which returns to the house featured in the “We Can’t Be Friends” video, now depicted as flooded amidst an unspecified external tragedy and accompanied by “Twilight Zone” and “Supernatural,” culminating in Peaches’s apparent UFO abduction; and the final memory, Reconstruction, portraying Peaches being seemingly reconstructed by her doctor father in a manner reminiscent of Frankenstein, with the song “Hampstead” playing during this scene.
