A rainbow-surfing superhero is back in action—and this time, the stakes are higher. Badingger-Z and the Accla Assassin has officially released its third chapter, continuing the adventures of the flamboyant hero as he faces new threats, bigger battles, and the sinister Varda.

Created by filmmaker and writer Real S. Florido, Badingger-Z follows a queer superhero whose powers are as vibrant as his personality. The comic blends action, humor, and Filipino queer culture into a story that refuses to shrink itself to fit traditional superhero molds.

For Florido, the project has always been about representation.

“Badingger-Z is a celebration of courage, authenticity, and the power of embracing who you are,” he shared. “I am hoping that people will talk about not just the action sequences or the funny moments in the released chapters but also be reminded by the significant contributions of any gay people they know or have met. I hope the conversation about having a gay superhero in the Philippines is something that our society welcomes as much as it is in real life,” Florido added.

The latest chapter expands the comic’s world with larger action sequences and a growing conflict against forces that threaten the town Badingger-Z calls home revealing villains like “Varda”, the alien drag queen. Readers can also expect more of the series’ signature use of gay lingo, a creative choice that transforms queer language into the language of heroes.

Illustrations for the comic are brought to life by artists Alfred “Edoy” Galaroza, Rhenel Serencio, and Trebor Guerrero, whose work gives the series its energetic and distinctly Filipino visual identity.

Three chapters into its run, Badingger-Z continues to carve out a unique space in local comics, one where queer characters are not sidekicks or punchlines, but the heroes at the center of the story.
