When Bar Boys first hit cinemas in 2017, it was far more than a barkada film—it became a cult classic for every student who has ever faced a terror prof, recited with shaky hands, or asked the existential question: “Bakit ko nga ba ginagawa ‘to sa sarili ko?”
The film showed law school life in all its chaotic glory, from sleepless nights to friendships that felt like family. It reminded us that while the grind is real, it’s the people beside us who make the struggle worth it.

Now, almost a decade later, the grind is back and bigger. Bar Boys: After School, directed again by Kip Oebanda, promises to bring viewers deeper into what happens after those late-night study sessions and bar exam dreams. Returning to the big screen are Kean Cipriano, Enzo Pineda, and Rocco Nacino, reprising the roles that made us laugh, cry, and root for them like they were our own blockmates. But this time, the film is leveling up with fresh faces, injecting new energy into the Bar Boys universe.
One of the most exciting additions is former Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Collab Edition housemate Will Ashley de Leon, who will play Arvin, a law student juggling two worlds at once. By day, Arvin is in class trying to keep up with endless readings and recitations; by night, he’s working at a grueling job just to help his family make ends meet. Fun fact: Will Ashley auditioned for this role just two weeks before entering the PBB house, proving he’s been grinding both in reel and real life.
Joining him is fellow former housemate Klarisse de Guzman, who is making her film debut as Arvin’s hilarious, optimistic, and hopeless romantic breadwinner sister. At a recent media conference for Sparkle’s PBB housemates, Will shared how proud he is of Klarisse’s milestone, saying, “Nakakatuwa. Sobrang nakakatuwa.” He also praised her acting skills, adding that viewers will see a completely different side of her: “Noong nagkaroon kami ng shoot together ni Ate Klang, talagang ‘di ‘ko po na-feel na first time namin kasi talagang give na give din [si] Ate Klang.”
According to CinemaBravo, her character becomes the emotional backbone of Alvin’s law school study group while also acting as the fan club president of Josh (Kean Cipriano), who is now navigating life as a former teleserye leading man and current struggling law student.

Also rounding out the cast are Glaiza De Castro, Bryce Eusebio, Therese Malvar, Royce Cabrera, Sassa Gurl, and Benedix Ramos, forming an ensemble that promises to feel both grounded and refreshing.
While the first film focused on getting into law school and enduring challenges, Bar Boys: After School seems to ask: what happens when dreams clash with reality? Early glimpses into the sequel show Josh struggling to keep up despite his best efforts, yet staying determined to give himself and his family a shot at a better future. The sequel promises to tackle deeper themes: mental health pressures in competitive environments, the weight of family expectations, navigating romance when ambition takes over, and the everyday anxieties of entering adulthood in a post-pandemic world.
Whether you’re a fresh grad wondering what’s next, a young professional fighting imposter syndrome, or just someone who loves a good barkada story, Bar Boys: After School is here to remind you why, despite it all, you should keep showing up for your dreams.
