The premiere of Viva One’s newest romcom series officially reunites Bea Binene and Wilbert Ross under the direction of Victor Villanueva.
While fans have been eagerly waiting to see the duo back on screen together for the kilig-filled Luv U Lots coming from Golden Scenery of Tomorrow, the new series goes beyond and tackles a surprisingly intricate narrative balance, blending classic rom-com charm with a grounded, sensitive exploration of Dissociative Identity Disorder (D.I.D.).

In an exclusive sit-down with ZEEN, Bea and Wilbert broke down the intense research, psychological precision, and collaborative environment behind their roles, proving that the heart of Love U Lots lies in its commitment to realistic storytelling.
The Weight of Responsibility
Taking on a role that touches medical and psychological reality requires empathy, strict research, and professional guidance. Speaking to ZEEN, Bea emphasized the immense responsibility of portraying D.I.D. accurately on screen.
“Apart from kailangan ng matinding research, I think it also has a great sense of responsibility… doing it realistically. Kasi nga, alam ko na may mga taong sa totoong buhay who suffers and who goes through that,” Bea shares with ZEEN.
To ensure every scene was handled with care, the production team brought in a medical professional to guide the entire creative process, from the script writing down to the exact terminology used in character dialogues.

“From the script to our dialogues, meron kaming psychiatrist, meron kaming medical professional who guides everyone,” Bea reveals to ZEEN.
“Sinasabi niya, ‘Oh let’s not do this’ or ‘I think it’s important if we do this.’ … With the terms, kasi ganito talaga sa totoong buhay. I read also some articles about it, but I think malaking bagay talaga yung paggabay ng isang doktor sa buong prod—not just with me and how I treated it, but especially with the creatives.”
Character Study in Real Time
For Wilbert Ross, playing Estong meant navigating the fine line between genuine care and the real-world flaws of someone uneducated about mental health conditions. He explained how crucial character study was to ensuring Estong’s journey felt authentic to the audience—even if Estong’s initial lack of filter might make viewers want to shake him a little bit.
“Syempre, character study lang talaga. Kailangan ko sundin yun for the story,” Wilbert explains to ZEEN. “May mga moments na very careful siya sa mismong D.I.D., pero may mga times din na talagang reckless siya or parang insensitive siya. So character study, para pagdating doon mismo sa set, alam ko na mismo ‘yung feel o dapat maibigay para sa mga manonood.”
Bea expanded on Wilbert’s point, telling that Estong’s initial recklessness was actually an intentional input from their medical consultant to mirror real-life societal stigma and growth.

“Yung mga sinasabi niya na may times na he’s reckless or insensitive with the scenes, part din yun actually ng input ng doctor,” she says.
“We don’t expect naman na kapag sinabing ganyan, maiintindihan agad ng lahat how it goes. Talagang may stigma, nag-ma-match o nag-ju-judge ka. So part din siya—kasi that really happens, and doon din yung magiging character improvement.”
Of course, leave it to Wilbert to deliver a flawed character with enough charm to keep the audience rooted for him anyway.
A Collaborative Set Under Direk Victor
Executing a story that balances rom-com lightness with medical accuracy required an ultra-safe, open environment on set.
Both actors praised Director Victor Villanueva for fostering a collective, collaborative atmosphere where every creative input was welcomed—making long shoot days feel a lot more like a shared passion project among close friends (or as shippers would say, two people with very “happy hearts”).

“With Direk Vic, he’s very collaborative to work with. He’s very open, he’s not a very strict type,” Bea shares. “I feel like having their team is really such a blessing because it’s a collective effort of everybody.”
With deep research, medical guidance, and an authentic approach to human growth, Bea Binene and Wilbert Ross are proving once again why their partnership is one for the books—bringing a fresh, thoughtful, and utterly kilig-worthy perspective to modern romantic comedy in Love U Lots.
