BGYO Gelo Breaks Into V-Pop Scene with Vũ Thảo My on “Zealous”

BGYO Gelo Rivera breaks into the V-pop scene with Vũ Thảo My through “Zealous,” as Southeast Asian pop continues its global rise.

Southeast Asian pop is stepping into a bold new era. With BINI gaining global traction including their historic moment at Coachella and P-pop steadily carving out its place on the world stage, the region’s music scene is no longer operating in silos. It’s expanding, connecting, and evolving.

This momentum becomes even more palpable through cross-border collaborations like “Zealous,” the latest release from Vietnamese artist Vũ Thảo My featuring Gelo Rivera of BGYO. The track doesn’t just blend two distinct pop styles, it signals a shift in how Southeast Asian artists are reaching beyond their home markets.

With “Zealous,” Gelo is introduced to the V-pop scene, and the response has been immediate. The music video quickly gained traction in Vietnam, where viewers were drawn to his presence and charisma.

During the Zealous Media Huddle, Vũ Thảo My shared:

“You know, everyone in Vietnam is like crazy about you right now”

“Because a lot of people texted me and were like, ‘Yo, who’s that guy in your video?’” she added.

Gelo later mentioned:

“This is my first ever international collaboration, and siyempre, this is also a big opportunity and blessing for BGYO, ‘cause everywhere I go, dala-dala ko ang pangalan ng BGYO and kung pa’no kami, and I’m glad and happy na nadala ko yung sound ng BGYO Gelo in Vũ Thảo My’s latest single”

Artists are no longer confined to their local markets, audiences are more connected, more curious, and more open than ever. What once felt like separate pop industries are now beginning to overlap, creating space for new stars to emerge beyond their home countries.

For Gelo, Zealous marks a significant step in expanding his reach, introducing him to a growing Vietnamese audience and signaling the potential of P-Pop acts on a broader regional stage. For Vũ Thảo My, the collaboration reinforces her position as an artist willing to push boundaries and explore new creative partnerships.

More importantly, Zealous stands as a reminder that SEA Pop is continuously evolving. Collaborations like this aren’t just about music; they’re about visibility, cultural exchange, and shared growth across the region.

As Southeast Asian artists continue to break through globally, moments like the beginning of a movement. One where borders blur, sounds merge, and the region steps forward, not individually, but together.
