Billie & Emma returns to the big screen for a special Pride Month screening featuring director Samantha Lee and star Gabby Padilla.
Eight years after capturing audiences with its tender portrayal of young queer love, Billie & Emma is heading back to the big screen for a special Pride Month screening in Makati.
Director Samantha Lee’s 2018 coming-of-age film will be screened on June 24 at Sari Sari Makati. The event begins at 6 p.m., with admission priced at ₱300, inclusive of one free drink and access to the after-party.
Fans can also look forward to a talkback session featuring Samantha Lee and lead star Gabby Padilla, who will reflect on the film’s legacy and enduring resonance within Filipino queer cinema.
Released in 2018, Billie & Emma follows the story of two teenage girls whose unlikely connection blossoms into first love amid the expectations and limitations of small-town life. Over the years, the film has become a touchstone for many LGBTQIA+ viewers, celebrated for its warmth, sincerity, and nuanced portrayal of queer youth.
The special screening is supported by Creazion Studios, which currently holds the rights to the film.
As Pride Month celebrations continue across the country, the screening offers both longtime fans and first-time viewers an opportunity to revisit a contemporary Filipino queer classic in the company of the people who helped bring it to life.
