Celeste Legaspi’s recent remarks about SB19 and BINI have sparked mixed reactions online, with the veteran singer sharing her admiration for the boy group while expressing a different sentiment toward the Nation’s Girl Group.

In an interview that recently resurfaced online, Legaspi was asked about the current generation of Filipino artists. She expressed strong admiration for SB19, describing the group as “really, really good” and particularly praising member Stell’s singing ability.

However, when the conversation turned to BINI, the veteran singer said, “I’m not so crazy about BINI,” before beginning to elaborate on her thoughts and leaving the statement unfinished. The remark quickly caught the attention of fans, particularly supporters of the Nation’s Girl Group.

While some defended Legaspi’s comments as a matter of personal musical preference, others questioned the need to single out BINI while praising another Filipino act. The contrasting reactions have since fueled discussions about how established names in the entertainment industry speak about today’s rising artists.

Amid the online conversation, producer Rox Santos shared a message that appeared to address the broader discussion surrounding established industry figures and the younger generation.

“Kapag naabot mo na ang pinnacle ng career mo at naging legend ka na sa industry, mas malaki na rin ang responsibility mo to inspire the younger generation and the artists who are just starting their journey,” Santos wrote.

He added that at this stage of a career, “wisdom” should take precedence over negative energy or unnecessary shade, emphasizing the importance of encouraging, recognizing, and supporting artists who are currently building their own paths.

Santos also stressed that supporting one Filipino act does not mean there is less room for another to succeed.

“We should celebrate each other’s achievements and remember that there is enough room for everyone to shine,” he said.

He ended his message by expressing support for both groups: “Proud of BINI. Proud of SB19.”

The producer’s statement adds another perspective to the discussion surrounding Legaspi’s remarks, particularly as BINI and SB19 continue to represent different sides of the rapidly growing P-pop movement.

At the center of the conversation, however, remains Legaspi’s personal take on the two groups and the larger question of how the Philippine music industry can navigate differences in taste while continuing to support Filipino artists across generations.
