The Optimum Star makes her genre comeback in the upcoming suspense thriller, while Binene follows a winning run post-Pee Mak.
Claudine Barretto is stepping back into horror, and she’s bringing Bea Binene along for the ride.
Morticia marks a return to horror for Barretto, following her role in the 2006 blockbuster Sukob, where she starred alongside Kris Aquino. Nearly two decades later, the actress is taking on another project built around suspense and the supernatural, this time under Topel Lee’s direction.

Announced by VIVA Films on November 5, the two actresses are set to headline Morticia, an upcoming suspense thriller directed by Lee, the filmmaker behind horror titles Ouija and Sundo.

The film also continues Binene’s roll for 2026 following a busy stretch after starring in the romantic series Golden Scenery of Tomorrow and Love U Lots, she recently reached another career milestone with Pee Mak, the Philippine adaptation of the hit Thai horror-comedy that crossed the ₱100-million mark at the local box office as of writing.

The quick follow-up comes as Binene continues to build on that momentum, moving from the comedy and romance of her previous projects into another suspense-driven production.
Morticia brings a fresh pairing to Philippine horror and marks another big-screen chapter for both Barretto and Binene, with Lee at the helm leading the cast alongside Mark Anthony Fernandez, Nathalie Hart, and Maricel Morales. Production of Morticia is scheduled to begin on November 6.
