The internet’s favorite liminal horror creepypasta is leaving your TikTok FYP and taking over the Manila eerie fans.
Creazion Studios is about to bring the irl experience of the much-awaited A24 horror film that would serve an eerily exciting thrill perfect for barkadas.
Ahead of the Philippine release of Backrooms, CreaZion Studios Inc. is launching the “Backrooms Breakout”, an immersive horror escape room happening from May 23 to June 7 at Shangri-La Plaza.
Inspired by the viral horror phenomenon that basically traumatized the internet with endless yellow hallways and uncanny empty spaces, the experience drops guests into distorted corridors designed to feel deeply wrong in the most psychologically terrifying way possible. Think less “haunted house with jump scares” and more “why does this fluorescent hallway feel like it knows me?”
And honestly, the timing makes sense. Liminal horror has become one of Gen Z internet culture’s weirdest obsessions. Between analog horror rabbit holes, uncanny TikTok edits, eerie PS2-style visuals, and the collective fear of empty office spaces, Backrooms arrived at the exact moment online audiences started craving horror that feels existential instead of explosive.
The immersive setup acts as a lead-up to the film’s Philippine premiere on June 3, giving horror fans the chance to physically enter the world before seeing it onscreen. Participants will navigate maze-like rooms and unsettling spaces that recreate the dread that made the original videos explode online.
Directed by Kane Parsons, the same creator behind the viral Backrooms videos, the feature adaptation stars Chiwetel Ejiofor and Renate Reinsve and is produced by A24.
“Backrooms is more than just a movie release for us — it’s an experience designed to pull audiences deeper into the world of the film even before they enter the cinema,” Creazion Studios’ CEO Anter RJ San Agustin shared.
Mechanics for to get a pass for the experience are the following:
- Present a pre-purchased Backrooms movie ticket from Shangri-La Red Carpet Cinemas.
- Tickets may be purchased online or through the cinema box office.
- Note that 1 single entry ticket is equal to 1 player
- For online reservations, guests may visit the official website to reserve a slot in advance
- Reservations are only held for 24 hours.
- Only 20 game slots are available each day with 6 players each.
The Backrooms Breakout Immersive Experience starts at 11 AM – 8 PM at Shangri-La Plaza, Mandaluyong.

The Backrooms Breakout Immersive Experience will run from May 23 to June 7 from 1 AM – 8 PM at Shangri-La Plaza, Mandaluyong.
Beyond the escape room gimmick, what makes this interesting is how Backrooms continues blurring the line between internet myth and mainstream entertainment. A concept that started as eerie online lore has now evolved into a full cinematic rollout complete with real-world immersion. That pipeline—from niche Reddit horror to mall activation—is honestly one of the most internet-age things imaginable.
