DreamWorks Animation has released a new trailer for Forgotten Island, offering audiences a deeper look into its fantasy world rooted in Filipino folklore. 

Written and directed by Joel Crawford and Januel Mercado, the animated feature follows Jo and Raissa, two friends who are transported to the mysterious island of Nakali, a realm inhabited by magical creatures and legendary figures inspired by the stories they grew up hearing.

The film features a star-studded voice cast led by Grammy Award-winning singer H.E.R. and actress Liza Soberano, alongside Lea Salonga, Manny Jacinto, Jo Koy, and Dolly de Leon.

While the trailer showcases Nakali’s vibrant landscapes and mythological creatures, it also introduces the central conflict of the story: Jo and Raissa can only return home by sacrificing their memories. As they navigate the island’s challenges, their friendship becomes crucial not only to their survival but also to the choices they must make along the way.

Beyond its fantasy setting, Forgotten Island explores themes of friendship, memory, and belonging, highlighting how the relationships people build shape their identities.

Set against a backdrop inspired by Filipino mythology and brought to life by a cast of Filipino and Filipino-American talents, Forgotten Island is scheduled to arrive in theaters on Sept. 25.
