Dustin Yu addresses a five-year-old “otw” reply after the account behind the original post resurfaced with a different kind of content.
A five-year-old “otw” reply from Dustin Yu is making its way around X again, prompting the actor to clarify the context behind the post.
What started as a harmless reply of an “otw” to a post of a now private account of @wreckitfreddie, an adult content creator, has quickly escalated into a different conversation, when the user shifted their content.

Yu addressed the resurfaced comment last night, explaining that he originally replied to a post as a joke while interacting with users who were tagging him.
“I replied to a comment on that account maybe around 5 years ago as a joke and simply to interact with people who were tagging me. Wala akong ibang intention behind it.” he said.

Netizens were quick in giving out their opinions—some were supportive and understanding given the context, while some found it to be off-putting.

The comment has since taken on a different context after the account it was posted on changed both its content and direction—showing how the internet can easily shift and create stories based only on surface-level engagements.
Yu added that he only recently learned about the change, adding that his old reply was being used to create a different narrative around him.

“Ngayon ko lang nalaman na nagpalit na pala ng account at content yung account na yun, and unfortunately, may mga taong ginagamit ngayon yung old comment ko para gawan ng ibang storya at i-drag ako.”
The resurfacing has since sparked discussions among netizens, with reactions split between those who accepted Yu’s explanation and others who continued to question the original interaction.
Rather than prolonging the exchange, Yu ended his statement by addressing those who continue to bring up the post: “To those who continue to drag me, I genuinely hope you find something else that brings you happiness and makes you smile.”
The adult content creator who was involved has also released a statement, “Leave the poor guy alone, you guys have way too much time on your hands. Stop using me as fuel for your childish fanwars.”

For Yu, the clarification comes down to a comment made five years ago and the context it had at the time before the context changed. For the internet, it becomes a moment of reassessment about how sometimes versions of stories are easily created without learning about its context.
