With their last member concluding their military training, EXO is officially back serving!
After more than two and a half years, the K-pop group returned on Monday, January 19, with their eighth full-length album, REVERXE, led by the dynamic title track “Crown.” The comeback marks the group’s first major release since completing military service and features six members Suho, Chanyeol, D.O., Kai, Sehun, and Lay.
“Crown” drops hardwithAtlanta trap drums, heavy metal guitars, and EDM synths into a high-octane dance-pop track that pitches power and protection through every beat. The lyrics lean into metaphor, likening someone precious to a crown that’s worth defending “to the very end,” giving the song both an emotional crumb and a performance punch at once.
The official music video, released in tandem with the album, weaves theatrical visuals and signature choreography into the group’s long-built universe, complete with symbolic moments like members reaching for their crown in synchronized movement.

Fans have been vocal since the teaser dropped, with online reactions ranging from hype over the chorus and MV intensity mixed takes on the execution of some visual effects. Beyond “Crown,” REVERXE spans a broader palette: rhythm-heavy tracks like “Back It Up” and “Crazy,” cinematic pieces like “Moonlight Shadows,” and emotional fare like the winter ballad “I’m Home.”
Commercially, the release has already made noise — topping iTunes Top Albums in at least 35 regions and hitting No. 1 on China’s QQ Music chart shortly after release, proving that global support for EXO’s return remains strong.
While REVERXE marks a major return for EXO, the group’s lineup and comeback context are shaped by an ongoing dispute with SM Entertainment. Members Chen, Baekhyun, and Xiumin, known collectively as the sub-unit EXO-CBX, are not participating in the comeback due to a long-running legal disagreement with the company over contract terms and revenue settlement, which has yet to be fully resolved. Mediation sessions have taken place, and both sides have issued statements, but as of early 2026 the situation remains unsettled, with the six members for REVERXE Suho, Chanyeol, D.O., Kai, Sehun, and Lay moving forward with the group’s activities while discussions continue behind the scenes.
For many fans, this comeback feels both familiar and fresh. A reaffirmation that EXO’s crown is built on their adaptability, cohesion, and enduring presence in K-pop’s ever-evolving landscape.
