From EJ Obiena and Carlos Yulo’s gold-medal wins to Victoria Bossong’s historic bronze, Filipino athletes continue to make waves at the Asian Games.

Filipino athletes continue to make history at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, with Team Philippines adding major wins and long-awaited milestones to its medal haul.

Leading the charge is pole vaulter EJ Obiena, who successfully defended his Asian Games title and delivered the Philippines’ third gold medal of the Games. Obiena cleared 5.91 meters, setting a new Asian Games record in the process and further cementing his dominance in the continental pole vault scene.

Meanwhile, Carlos Yulo finally completed his Asian Games golden collection. The two-time Olympic champion captured the Philippines’ first gold of the 2026 Games by ruling the men’s floor exercise with a score of 14.666, securing the Asian title that had long eluded him.

Yulo wasn’t done there. The Filipino gymnastics star followed up his floor exercise victory with another gold in the men’s vault, scoring 14.599 to claim his second gold medal of the Games.

Adding another historic moment to the Philippines’ campaign was Victoria Bossong, who won bronze in the women’s 800-meter run. Her time of 2:05.34 earned her a place on the podium and ended a 32-year wait for a Filipina athletics medal at the Asian Games.

Bossong’s achievement gives the Philippine athletics team another milestone to celebrate, while highlighting the growing presence of Filipina athletes on the Asian stage.

From Obiena’s record-setting pole vault to Yulo’s two golds and Bossong’s breakthrough bronze, the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games have already delivered several memorable moments for Philippine sports.
