Hollister has officially opened its first Philippine store, in time for nostalgia and Gen Z fashion trends continue to intersect.
For many Filipinos, Hollister was once one of those brands that felt just out of reach. The California-inspired label was often discovered through balikbayan relatives, overseas trips, or pasalubong from friends abroad. Now, more than two decades after the brand’s global rise, Hollister has officially opened its first Philippine store at SM Mall of Asia.
The arrival marks another chapter in the growing presence of international fashion brands in the local retail landscape. Hollister’s Philippine debut is part of its broader Southeast Asian expansion, facilitated through a partnership with lifestyle retailer MAP Group.
Founded under the umbrella of Abercrombie & Fitch Co., Hollister built its identity around relaxed, youthful clothing inspired by Southern California culture. In the 2000s, the brand became synonymous with logo tees, denim, and the laid-back aesthetic that defined much of teen fashion during the era.
Its arrival in the Philippines also comes at an interesting cultural moment. Fashion’s ongoing Y2K revival has brought many once-familiar brands back into the spotlight. On social media, discussions surrounding Hollister’s launch have reflected both nostalgia from millennials who grew up with the brand and curiosity from younger shoppers encountering it for the first time. Some users recalled Hollister’s peak popularity in the early 2000s, while others debated how the brand fits into today’s fashion landscape.
Inside the new store, shoppers can expect Hollister’s signature mix of denim, summer dresses, casual tops, shorts, and everyday essentials designed for warm-weather dressing. The launch is accompanied by the brand’s “Time of Your Life” campaign, which encourages self-expression through personal style.
Hollister’s arrival offers something many fashion enthusiasts haven’t experienced before: the chance to walk into a Hollister store without needing a passport.
