“I Am Simply Doing My Job”: Brent Breaks Silence on ‘PBB’ Victory Criticism

Brent Manalo took on X to speak out about the bashing he is receiving as his viral Tapatan video from PBB has resurfaced.

Winning Pinoy Big Brother often comes with a double-edged sword: overnight stardom matched with relentless public dissection. For Brent Manalo, the journey from housemate to Big Winner continues to be shadowed by a digital footprint that refuses to fade.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the actor and social media personality addressed the ongoing wave of backlash triggered by a resurfaced clip from PBB’s notorious “Tapatan” segment.

“Huwag niyo po sanang ipagkait sakin na gawin yung trabahong binibigay,” Manalo wrote, calling for space to pursue his career without constant vilification. “I am simply doing my job. I hope to one day be able to show up to work and not walk on eggshells cause everything I say or do is being watched closely just to fault me for something so miniscule.”

While his championship run alongside partner Mika Salamanca was celebrated by a massive fanbase, public opinion regarding his behavior inside Bahay ni Kuya remains sharply divided. Manalo directly acknowledged the tension, noting, “My win was polarizing, but it is my journey and I hope to be able to look back at it with pride.”

Adding fuel to online discussions was a since-deleted statement where Manalo briefly touched on the intensity of the “Tapatan” task itself, writing, “Pinagmumura po ako don.” The quick removal of the post sparked curiosity among netizens, with some questioning the deletion while others pointed out the inherently confrontational nature of the reality show’s challenges.

Despite the persistent scrutiny, Manalo maintained a measured stance on self-improvement, emphasizing that he “will always listen to constructive criticisms” as he navigates his expanding career in showbiz.

The divided reaction to Manalo’s posts highlights a familiar reality for former reality show contestants: long after the season ends and the confetti clears, the line between holding public figures accountable and continuous online harassment remains precariously thin.
