Ice Seguerra Chooses Joy Over Milestones as He Mounts ‘Being Ice:Live!’ at New Frontier Theater

OPM icon Ice Seguerra returns to Araneta City for a one-night-only memoir concert featuring hits like Pagdating ng Panahon and special guests TVJ, Pops Fernandez, Kyla, and more.

For Ice Seguerra, the secret to lasting more than 30 years in the music industry is not strategy. It is not reinvention for the sake of relevance. It is not chasing milestones.

It is joy.

Siguro, I just really enjoy what I do,” Ice says in an exclusive interview by Zeen. “I was never the type of person na motivated by ‘goals’, na dapat at this point in my life, ito na ganito na yung achievement ko.”

As he prepares for Being Ice:Live! at the New Frontier Theater in Araneta City on February 27, that philosophy becomes the emotional backbone of the show. The one-night memoir concert promises to be intimate and deeply personal, weaving together stories and songs that have shaped his journey.

Instead of asking what more he needs to achieve, Ice asks himself something simpler.

“I go by, ‘Is this making me happy?’ ‘Does singing still bring me joy?’ And for the longest time, that has sustained me.”

Through decades of industry shifts and changing musical landscapes, he has chosen to adapt naturally.

“So kahit maraming changes sa landscape ng industry, I go with the flow.”

That quiet consistency explains how his music continues to resonate across generations. For Ice, connection does not depend on trends. It depends on truth.

“What’s nice about songs is that the stories behind them are universal,” he shares. “It doesn’t matter kung anong edad yung nakikinig. We’ve all experienced happiness, pain, etc.”

His belief is simple but powerful.

“So if you stay true to the story, the song will always find its own audience.”

That universality will echo through Being Ice:Live!, where classics like “Pagdating ng Panahon” and “Anong Nangyari Sa Ating Dalawa” meet newer songs such as “Ikaw Ang Wakas” and “‘Wag Na Lang” Pala. The show is structured not just as a performance, but as a shared experience.

Over the years, Ice has learned one thing about Filipino crowds.

Ang napansin ko from all my years of performing, Filipinos love to sing along with the performer,” he says. “Hindi tayo basta nakikinig lang, we always want to be part of the experience.”

Because of this, he carefully balances his lineup.

“In choosing songs for my line-up, I make sure na the songs I choose are a balance of new original songs na I want to introduce to the audience and familiar tunes na nakakatatak na sa kanila,” he explained.

Joining him onstage are TVJ, Pops Fernandez, Nyoy Volante, Princess Velasco, Kyla, and Frenchie Dy, artists who have been part of his evolving story.

Tickets for Being Ice:Live! are available via TicketNet online and physical outlets, with options from SSVIP with Meet and Greet access to Balcony seats. Additional seats have been opened in select sections due to strong demand.

After three decades, Ice Seguerra is not chasing the next big milestone. He is simply following the question that has always guided him.

Does singing still bring him joy?

At Araneta, the answer will be sung out loud.
