Jennie announces self-directed single “Less than a Lover”

The BLACKPINK member wrote, produced and directed the upcoming single, marking her first solo release since her debut album, Ruby.
BLACKPINK’s Jennie is returning with her self-directed solo single “Less than a Lover,” set for release on July 24.
Her agency, Odd Atelier, announced the upcoming release alongside a series of teaser photos on social media. The teasers also highlight Jennie’s creative involvement in the project, with the singer writing and producing the track as well as directing its accompanying music video.
Jennie first performed the unreleased track at the Governors Ball Music Festival in June. She has since included it in her festival sets at Denmark’s Roskilde Festival, Poland’s Open’er Festival and Spain’s Mad Cool Festival this month.
Building anticipation ahead of the release, Jennie shared teaser photos bearing the text, “The summer I chose to pause the love story.” She also unveiled a music video teaser, offering fans another glimpse of the upcoming release.
“Less than a Lover” marks Jennie’s first release since her 2025 debut solo album, Ruby, which featured chart-topping tracks including “Like Jennie” and “Mantra.”
