It was anything but ghostly at the purple carpet premiere of Ghosting, iWant’s newest original series, which lit up July 18 with star power, excitement, and a whole lot of kilig. Held ahead of the show’s official release on July 19, the grand premiere drew a lively crowd of fans and celebrity guests—all there to welcome the debut project of Pinoy Big Brother Gen 11’s breakout pair, JM Ibarra and Fyang Smith, charmingly dubbed “JMFyang.”

Marking their first-ever onscreen project together, JM and Fyang stepped out onto the carpet looking every bit the rising stars they are. Fans, some of whom got to walk the carpet themselves, cheered them on as the duo beamed and posed like seasoned pros. Also gracing the carpet were a constellation of stars, including Ivana Alawi, Rochelle Pangilinan, PBB Gen 11 housemate Kolette Madelo, entertainment content creator Joms, and rising P-pop group 1621. The cast was out in force, with Kobie Brown, Vivoree, Zach Guerrero, and Gello Marquez all celebrating the launch of the series alongside their lead stars.
Ghosting is no ordinary debut: the eight-episode romantic supernatural series serves up heartaches, hauntings, and a whole lot of chemistry, with a story that’s equal parts unexpected and swoon-worthy.
The series follows Jaja (Fyang Smith), a college student nursing a broken heart after being ghosted, who retreats to her grandmother’s quiet provincial home to heal. She crosses paths with Wilberto (JM Ibarra), a charming but mysterious local with a secret—he’s not exactly among the living. What begins as a simple story of moving on quickly unravels into a romance that defies logic, grief, and even the afterlife.
After the purple carpet, invited guests and fans were treated to an advanced screening of Ghosting’s pilot episode—which was also the very first time the cast got to see it.
“Super na-excite po ako. Kasi first [episode] pa lang, parang bitin ‘no? Bitin talaga siya. So I am very excited na mapanood na din ng lahat kung ano ‘yung hinanda namin para sa kanila.” – Fyang Smith during the premiere of the series
For Fyang, stepping into the role of Jaja felt natural, even familiar. “Naka-relate po ako sa personality,” she said. “Si Jaja ay very jolly, very makulit, mapagmahal, family-oriented, and Lola’s girl. Pinalaki din po siya ng lola niya, gaya ko po. Lola din po nagpalaki sa ‘kin.”
While the character’s heartbreak doesn’t quite mirror her real life, Fyang says the emotional spirit of Jaja rings true. She also leaned into her comedic side for the role: “Siguro po nature na po siya sa ‘kin,” she laughed. “‘Yung mga napapanood n’yo, si Direk talaga nag-guide sa ‘kin kung paano ko i-deliver nang tama, kung gusto ba nila nakakatawa o hindi.”
Directed by Ted Boborol—known for modern rom-com favorites like Vince & Kath & James and Finally Found Someone—Ghosting delivers that same signature blend of cinematic charm and heartfelt storytelling. The series plays with themes of loss, longing, and love that transcends the ordinary.
And as the first original under iWant’s newly revamped platform, Ghosting is also a part of a bigger reveal. With a sleeker, more personalized viewing experience, the new iWant is doubling down on Filipino feels and global accessibility. Ghosting sets the tone for what the rebrand promises: bold new stories, fresh faces, and a streaming experience that puts emotion front and center.
The series speaks to a generation that’s fluent in soft launches, ghosting culture, and processing heartbreak with a meme and a playlist. JM and Fyang aren’t just fresh faces—they’re the kind of leads Gen Z can potentially see themselves in: effortlessly real, a little rough around the edges, and learning as they go. And while the show plays with familiar Filipino tropes like the probinsyano boy and the lola-raised girl, it flips them into something fresh, funny, and a little self-aware.
Whether you’re in it for the supernatural twist, a touch of mystery, or the charm of a loveteam that keeps you hooked, Ghosting is now streaming exclusively on iWant. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself rewatching, believing in ghosts, and maybe even crying a little. This series is sure to hit close to the heart and refuse to let go.
