The “JMFyang” fever has officially reached a boiling point. Following the massive success of their digital series Ghosting and their stint as the new generation’s “Regal Babies” in Shake, Rattle & Roll: Evil Origins, JM Ibarra and Fyang Smith are finally stepping into the spotlight for their first-ever full-length lead film, Almost Us.

While anticipation was already high, the official teaser released by Regal Entertainment and Project 8 Projects on March 11 has sent the fandom into a total meltdown. The clip, directed by the master of “hugot” cinema Dan Villegas, features a sequence that fans are calling the “ultimate gag.” In a scene that blurs the lines between a life-saving medical moment and a romantic breakthrough, JM and Fyang share a high-stakes mouth-to-mouth encounter that transitions into a lingering, breathless kiss.

Director Dan Villegas, known for his grounded and intimate storytelling in hits, seems to be bringing that same raw, “unfiltered” energy to JMFyang’s big-screen debut. The film follows the story of two young people navigating a relationship that is “almost—but not quite—meant to be,” exploring themes of unfit timing and realities of young love.

As the teaser’s tagline asks, “Why do we sometimes reach for the distant when the one who loves us most is right here?” fans are already preparing their hearts for the emotional wreckage.

“Almost Us” is set to hit theaters nationwide on May 6.
