JMFyang’s ‘Almost Us’ Secures a Summer Date with Destiny

Fyang Smith and JM Ibarra are officially entering their lead solo era as Regal Entertainment and Project 8 Projects hard-launch the playdate for their highly anticipated romantic debut.

The “IRL” era of our favorite duo has a new name and a final destination. Project 8 Projects  has officially announced that the highly anticipated big-screen debut of Fyang Smith and JM Ibarra aka  JMFyang is titled Almost Us. Originally teased under the working title IRL, the film has now locked in a nationwide cinema release for May 6.

This project marks a significant milestone for the pair, transitioning them from reality TV breakout stars to legitimate film leads under the guidance of some of the industry’s most respected creators.

Co-produced by Project 8 Projects, the production house led by the award-winning “hugot” visionaries Dan Villegas and Antoinette Jadaone, the film carries high expectations for a grounded and resonant love story. With Villegas taking the director’s chair, the film is expected to showcase a more mature side of the duo’s chemistry.

While they previously found success in ensemble projects like the 2025 Metro Manila Film Festival hit Shake, Rattle & Roll: Evil Origins and their supernatural iWantTFC series Ghosting, Almost Us is their first time carrying a narrative entirely on their own.

The journey from the Pinoy Big Brother Gen 11 house to becoming a bankable cinematic love team has been meteoric. While Regal Entertainment is expected to announce the full supporting cast soon, the announcement of the title and playdate has already galvanized the JMFyang fandom. The move from the “macro” scale of horror segments and digital series to a character-driven feature film cements Fyang and JM’s status as the definitive “Main Characters” of the 2026 summer movie season.
