The P-pop girl group has been tapped to perform at the second NBA Rising Stars Invitational, which will take place from June 23 to 28 at Singapore’s OCBC Arena. The announcement adds another Filipino presence to the regional tournament, which will also feature two Philippine schools competing against top youth basketball teams from across Asia-Pacific.

Now in its second year, the NBA Rising Stars Invitational gathers 24 boys’ and girls’ teams from across the region, transforming Singapore into a meeting point for emerging basketball talent, cultural exchange, and youth-focused programming. Far Eastern University-Diliman will represent the country in the boys’ division, while the University of Santo Tomas will compete in the girls’ division after winning their respective UAAP 19U championships. 

The week-long event is expected to feature appearances from basketball figures including Jeremy Lin, Rui Hachimura, Mitch Richmond, and Lauren Jackson. 

For KAIA, the performance marks another international stage in a year that has seen the group steadily expand its reach beyond traditional P-pop spaces. 

While music and sports have increasingly intersected through global events, invitations like this remain relatively rare for Filipino idol groups, placing KAIA alongside a growing wave of local artists finding audiences outside the country’s borders.

As Filipino acts continue to secure spots at global festivals, international conventions, and cross-industry events, performances such as the NBA Rising Stars Invitational reflect how the genre is increasingly being positioned within larger regional conversations rather than solely local ones.
