Kevin Williamson Takes the Director’s Chair in Scream 7, Bringing Sidney Prescott Back to Face Ghostface One More Time

The creator of Scream finally steps behind the camera as Neve Campbell returns for a new chapter packed with legacy, family stakes, and fresh scares. Catch Scream 7 in cinemas starting February 25.

The scream that started it all is coming full circle.

Kevin Williamson, the mind behind the original Scream, officially steps into the director’s chair for the first time in the franchise with Scream 7, opening in cinemas on February 25. After shaping the series as writer and producer, Williamson is now leading the story himself, and yes, it hits different.

“People ask me that all the time, have I always wanted to direct a Scream movie, and I say, yes, with all my heart,” Williamson shares. For longtime fans, this moment feels like a homecoming. For new viewers, it is a fresh entry point into one of horror’s most iconic universes.

Neve Campbell returns as Sidney Prescott, now living a quieter life far from the chaos she once survived. But peace does not last long. When a new Ghostface emerges, Sidney’s worst fears become reality as her daughter, played by Isabel May, becomes the next target. With everything on the line, Sidney is forced to confront her past once again to protect her family and stop the killings for good.

The film blends legacy energy with new blood, starring Courteney Cox, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, Anna Camp, Joel McHale, Mckenna Grace, Mark Consuelos, Michelle Randolph, Jimmy Tatro, Asa Germann, Celeste O’Connor, Sam Rechner, Ethan Embry, and Tim Simons.

Paramount Pictures also dropped a special featurette showing Williamson at work on set, with Neve Campbell and Isabel May sharing what it is like being directed by the creator himself. It is a behind-the-scenes look that makes this chapter feel even more personal.

Produced by William Sherak, James Vanderbilt, and Paul Neinstein, with a screenplay by Kevin Williamson and Guy Busick, Scream 7 centers on family, fear, and unfinished business, all while bringing Ghostface back to terrorize a new town.

Old trauma, new targets, and a creator finally telling his story from the director’s chair.

Scream 7 slashes into cinemas February 25.
