KZ Tandingan and Gloc-9 Collaborate for a Fiery Rock Track “Luha ng Buwaya”

“Luha ng Buwaya” goes beyond the mastery of lyricism and their craft, but a proof that art is, and will always be, political.

A fiery rock track by KZ Tandingan and Gloc-9 are taking jabs at the political climate of the Philippines.

Entitled “Luha ng Buwaya”, it explores the social issues that remain rampant in the country today, particularly the most recent Flood Control Scandal—providing both a political commentary and a social statement towards the listeners.

Released on October 2 amidst KZ’s tour with husband TJ Monterde, the song has earned praise from fans. But, ultimately, it has reopened the conversation about politicians that continually put their interests first.

Evident in its lyrics, it takes on the frustration of deeply-rooted systematic issues on a much deeper level.

Gloc-9, who is also known for his jabs at social causes, has provided a deeper dynamic and storytelling as well because at its core, it circles back to the message of accountability and the never-ending fight towards social justice.

In KZ’s post about the “Luha ng Buwaya” Launch, she captioned her photos with something brief, but has deeply lingered across audiences: “Sana naramdaman niyo yung dapat niyong maramdaman.”

Both Tandingan and Gloc-9 are no stranger to political commentaries—in their discography’s ethos and DNA, it remains to be evident, hidden behind the lyrics and melodies. Yet, time and time again, it will always reinforce the same thing: art is always political.
