Macklemore Announces ‘Free Palestine’ Tour Amid Buzz On Ed Sheeran Tour Exit

Macklemore is taking his Pro-Palestinian message to the stage with a newly announced Free Palestine Tour

Macklemore is turning a major chapter of his recent career into a new live project. Days after being removed from the U.S. leg of Ed Sheeran’s Loop Tour following his public support for Palestinians, the Grammy-winning rapper has announced his own Free Palestine Tour, with proceeds set to benefit organizations supporting Palestinians.

Macklemore was subsequently removed from the remaining U.S. dates of Sheeran’s tour. The promoter, Messina Touring Group, said that venue owners for upcoming shows had indicated they would not allow concerts to proceed with Macklemore in the lineup.

Several other supporting acts, including Finneas, Lukas Graham, Aaron Rowe and Beoga, withdrew from upcoming dates in solidarity after Macklemore’s removal.

Announced on September 24, the Free Palestine Tour will initially visit Dublin, Paris and London in late October, with additional U.S. dates to be announced. Tickets for the initial dates are scheduled to go on sale September 30.

The rapper has framed the tour as an extension of his advocacy, saying that the events will raise money for organizations supporting Palestinians. His announcement comes after he previously pledged $1 million from his tour earnings toward Palestinian aid.

The controversy has also put a broader spotlight on the role of artists and political expression in major commercial tours. Macklemore has argued that artists should use their platforms to speak about issues they believe matter, while Sheeran has said he wants his concerts to remain spaces that bring people together. Sheeran addressed the humanitarian situation in Gaza during a Philadelphia concert, describing it as “catastrophic and unjustifiable,” while maintaining that his shows are intended to focus on music and unity.

With the first three European dates now announced and more performers and North American shows still to come, the Free Palestine Tour marks a new phase in the rapper’s increasingly outspoken public advocacy.
