Meet RAYA, the P-pop Group Bringing Camp Back Into the Mix

From “Bling Bling” to their version of “Bongga Ka Day,” RAYA is building a sound and image rooted in playful pop energy.

For newer P-pop groups, standing out usually means choosing a lane early. Some lean heavily into sleek performance concepts, while others build around polished minimalism. RAYA, however, seems more interested in bringing fun back into the equation.

The group, which debuted in 2025, has slowly built recognition through releases that embrace bright visuals, campier pop styling, and references that feel distinctly familiar to Filipino audiences. Rather than distancing themselves from local pop culture touchstones, RAYA leans directly into them.

That approach became more visible through tracks like “Bling Bling,” a single that helped introduce the group’s identity early in their run. With flashy production and an intentionally playful energy, the release established the kind of performance style the group would continue exploring.

RAYA also caught attention for their cover of the Filipino classic “Bongga Ka Day,” reworking the track for a newer audience while keeping its larger-than-life spirit intact. The performance quickly circulated among P-pop fans, especially those drawn to groups willing to embrace theatricality and local pop references without irony.

Now, the group is preparing for another release cycle with the announcement of a music video for their version of “Get Me.”

Part of RAYA’s appeal lies in how unapologetically colorful their presentation is. At a time when many idol groups aim for hyper-curated coolness, the group’s branding feels loud, playful, and performance-driven.

As P-pop continues expanding, newer groups are beginning to define different corners of the genre. For RAYA, that space currently looks bright, campy, and unafraid of going full performance mode.
