CreaZion Studios is once again putting the Philippines on the global cinema map. After bringing Coralie Fargeat’s The Substance to local theaters in 2024, the powerhouse studio is now premiering Park Chan-wook’s No Other Choice, South Korea’s official entry to the 98th Academy Awards. The film hits Philippine cinemas on October 29.
Led by Lee Byung-hun (Squid Game) and Son Ye-jin (Crash Landing on You), No Other Choice already holds a 100% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes and has been praised as one of Park’s most gripping dramas. The story follows Man-su (Lee Byung-hun), a seasoned paper manufacturing specialist who seems to have it all: a stable career, a loving wife (Son Ye-jin), two kids, and even two dogs. But when he’s suddenly laid off, everything begins to unravel. After months of failed interviews and odd jobs, desperation pushes him toward one chilling decision: “If there is no opening for me, I’ll just have to get hired by creating an opening.”
Park Chan-wook, the acclaimed director behind Oldboy and The Handmaiden, is known for stories that cut deep. With No Other Choice, he delivers not just a survival thriller but a reflection on the systems that fail ordinary people.
For Filipino audiences, the timing hits close to home. Conversations around job security, financial uncertainty, and the daily grind of survival are louder than ever, and No Other Choice feels less like escapism and more like a mirror. It’s a film that forces you to sit with uncomfortable questions: How far would you go? What would you risk when society leaves you no way out?
CEO RJ Agustin of CreaZion Studios explained why bringing this story to the Philippines matters. “We’re thrilled to bring this highly anticipated film to Filipino audiences. It has been receiving remarkable attention overseas, and as part of our mission, we want to share international stories that resonate strongly with Filipinos,” he said.
Mark your calendars: No Other Choice opens in Philippine cinemas on October 29.
