Filipino pride is in full force once again as acclaimed actress Dolly De Leon shares behind the scene stills as she makes her debut in Netflix’s live action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 2.  

The Filipina actress shares a series of photos during production and filming for the series, including her recreation of the iconic Lo and Li’s mirror pose from the original animated series.

Others simply couldn’t contain their excitement over seeing the award-winning Filipina actress join one of Netflix’s biggest fantasy series. 

The side-by-side comparison quickly made the rounds online, with one fan writing, “They must include this scene in the series,” while another dubbed it the “Otso Otso pose of Lo & Li.”

The excitement didn’t stop there.

In the comments of De Leon’s Instagram post, one fan jokingly asked

 “Will we see the twins doing the ocho-ochooo na?” Rather than shutting down the speculation, the actress playfully replied, “Stay tuned to find out!” 

The role of Lo and Li, Princess Azula’s eerily synchronized elderly advisors, may not be among the series’ biggest characters, but they’re memorable fan favorites thanks to their identical 

mannerisms, dry humor, and uncanny ability to move and speak in perfect unison.

For Filipino audiences, the excitement goes beyond this. Seeing Dolly De Leon, whose acclaimed performances have brought her international recognition, step into the beloved world of Avatar is another milestone for Filipino representation on the global stage. 

The “Otso Otso” comparisons may be made in good fun, but they’re also a reminder of how Filipino culture naturally finds its way into international conversations.
