For fans who grew up watching films from Studio Ghibli, a lineup of classics is heading back to the big screens.
Studio Ghibli films, for a lot of its fans, are beyond a rewatch material as it transcends emotion and is surely something one will remember by feeling. From the vibrant cinematography, wondrous animations, and even appetizing food visuals (iykyk!) Ghibli films have been iconic and a staple fave for almost everyone.
And now, Ghibli geeks are in for a nostalgic treat as a lineup of the classics is heading back to the big screen for one week, selected titles from the studio will be screened in theaters nationwide through SM Cinema, in partnership with Reality MM Studios.

The lineup brings together five films that many viewers already know by heart: Spirited Away, Howl’s Moving Castle, My Neighbor Totoro, Castle in the Sky, and Ponyo.
Scenes that we usually watch on smaller screens amidst our daily mundane times, with Chihiro crossing into the spirit world, Totoro waiting at the bus stop, Ponyo running across waves—take on a different scale in a cinema setting.
At the same time, the screenings open the door for newer audiences who may have only encountered these titles through streaming, giving them a way to experience the films in a format they weren’t originally discovered in.
The festival runs from April 15 to 21 across participating branches, with ticket prices set at ₱275 in Metro Manila and ₱230 in provincial locations.
For many, it’s a simple opportunity to return to stories they already know, this time on a bigger screen, with a room full of people who know them too.
