For many readers, discovering queer literature begins with a recommendation, a borrowed copy, or a chance encounter at a bookstore. This Pride Month, Aesop is hoping to create more of those moments.

From June 26 to 28, the skincare brand will offer free books by Filipino LGBTQIA+ authors through the Aesop Queer Library at its SM Aura store. No purchase is required, allowing visitors to take home a title while supplies last.

The initiative forms part of Aesop’s global Queer Library program, which partners with LGBTQIA+ writers, publishers, and organizations to increase access to queer stories and perspectives. Rather than centering Pride solely around celebration, the project turns attention toward literature as a space for representation, reflection, and community-building.

Ahead of the giveaway, Aesop hosted an intimate conversation featuring National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts Ricky Lee and author Jerico Silvers. The discussion explored their respective works, creative influences, and the experiences that continue to shape their writing.

While their literary careers span different generations, both authors have contributed to a growing body of Filipino literature that examines identity, desire, belonging, and the complexities of navigating the world as queer Filipinos.
