Based on Rachel Reid’s bestselling Game Changers novel series, Heated Rivalry brings one of modern queer romance’s most beloved enemies-to-lovers stories to the screen. The six-episode series stars Hudson Williams as Canadian ice hockey star Shane Hollander and Connor Storrie as Russian powerhouse Ilya Rozanov, two elite athletes whose on-ice rivalry slowly gives way to something far more complicated and far more intimate off the rink.
Set against the high-pressure world of professional hockey, the series follows Shane and Ilya as they navigate competition, ego, and undeniable chemistry. What begins as animosity quickly melts into stolen moments, emotional tension, and a relationship that challenges everything they thought they wanted.
Joining Williams and Storrie is a supporting cast that includes François Arnaud, Robbie G.K., Callan Potter, Christina Chang, Dylan Walsh, and Kolton Stewart,, adding depth to the series’ world both on and off the rink.
Although Heated Rivalry only premiered on November 28, the series has already gained viral traction online, particularly among longtime readers of Reid’s Game Changers books. Fans have praised the adaptation for staying true to the source material while elevating its emotional beats for the screen. The show currently sits among the Top 10 streaming titles, sharing space with global heavyweights like Stranger Things and Apple TV+’s Pluribus.
Local viewers will be able to stream the remaining episodes of the first season beginning December 19 on HBO Max Philippines. Even more exciting for fans, a second season is already in the works, announced just five episodes into the debut season.
With its blend of rivalry, longing, and undeniable chemistry, Heated Rivalry arrives just in time to heat up Filipino screens this holiday season.
