ShukLa: The Big Winners We Never Had, the Duo We’ll Never Forget

Every season of Pinoy Big Brother introduces housemates who stand out—not just for winning, but for creating lasting impact. Whether through touching life stories, unexpected connections, or simply by staying true to themselves, these individuals capture the hearts of viewers and leave behind unforgettable moments. Over the years, it’s become clear that success in the house often follows familiar paths: emotional relatability, compelling chemistry, and authenticity. These qualities resonate deeply with the audience and often help determine who stays, and who ultimately wins.

Composed of Shuvee Etrata, a vibrant internet personality with a loud, lovable energy—and Klarisse De Guzman, the powerhouse singer dubbed by fans as the “Nation’s Mowm” for her soul-stirring voice and grounding charm, ShuKla didn’t exactly fit the usual mold. They weren’t a romantic pair. They didn’t carry a tragic backstory. They were two women who showed up, showed heart, and stood out anyway.

Together, they brought something rare to PBB: Celebrity Collab Edition: a sense of comfort and realness. In a house filled with strangers and shifting alliances, ShuKla became the emotional core. Housemates leaned on them for support, laughter, and stability. Their presence wasn’t just entertaining, it was anchoring. They were the only all-girl duo among the finalists, which made them stand out, but beyond that, what made them memorable was how naturally they moved through the house—whether helping with chores, offering advice, or simply being present. Their bond felt genuine, and their presence brought a sense of ease and balance that many housemates gravitated toward.

Individually, both Shuvee and Klarisse shone. They took on tasks with energy and skill, adapted to challenges, and earned the respect of their fellow housemates. But as a duo, their potential felt like it was just getting started…and then it ended.

On the sixth eviction night, ShuKla was unexpectedly sent home. The announcement hit like a gut punch—not just for the fans, but for the people inside the house. Their eviction didn’t just empty two beds; it left an emotional crater. Housemates wept. Conversations were cut short. The spaces where ShuKla once laughed, sang, and cooked suddenly felt hollow. And outside the house, the reaction was just as loud and heartbreaking. Timelines flooded with disbelief and grief, and fans called it unfair. Even award-winning journalist Kara David posted,

“Sobrang lungkot. Para sa akin, si Shuvee at Klarisse ang pinakatotoo sa loob ng bahay ni Kuya. Haaaay. Ang lungkot ko talaga.” Justin of SB19 said on Instagram, “Sad naman natanggal si Shuvee at Klarisse.” Even Vice Ganda tweeted, “Now that Klarisse is out of the PBB house, it’s time na we really start supporting this brilliant talent.”

It’s a heartbreaking twist of fate: ShuKla is loved by many yet unable to stay— not because they were not deserving but because they were outspent by money votes. With the introduction of a money-based voting system in PBB, the show seemingly shifted from the taumbayan’s vote to a wallet-based show. Talent, skills, heart, and authenticity have taken a backseat to the weight of one’s wallet. The game is no longer about who deserves to stay; it’s about who can afford to keep their bets inside the house.

It wasn’t that they didn’t deserve to stay—it’s that something about the system worked against them. With money now playing a bigger role in the voting process, it’s become harder for heart, talent, and impact alone to determine the outcome. And in ShuKla’s case, it feels like a meaningful story was cut short before it could truly unfold.

Still, what they brought to the show can’t be measured by votes alone. The joy they sparked, the comfort they offered, and the sincerity they showed left a mark—not just on the house, but on the hearts of the audience. Their journey, though shorter than expected, reminded everyone of the kind of presence that matters most: honest, human, and deeply felt.

In a show that thrives on connection, ShuKla proved that being real is still powerful. And sometimes, even if the game doesn’t go your way, the impact you leave behind speaks louder than any win.
