Simplified Korean Visas: What Every Filipino Traveler Needs to Know

South Korea waives bank statements and simplifies documents for Filipino travelers. Apply easily at KVAC starting Feb 20, 2026.

Starting February 20, 2026, applying for a Korean visa no longer feels like climbing a mountain. The South Korean Embassy has simplified the process for Filipinos, cutting out paperwork and unnecessary hoops to encourage tourism.

What’s Different?

Before, getting a Korean visa meant juggling multiple documents, including three months of bank statements just to prove you had funds. Students had to present both a School Certificate and a Student ID, while families or groups had to submit multiple copies of shared documents. Employees needed letters explaining why their Certificate of Employment had no landline or e-signature. That’s a lot of stress for a vacation!

Now, the process is much simpler. Bank statements are no longer required for any visa type. Students only need either a School Certificate or a Student ID. Families or groups need only one copy of shared documents attached to the representative’s file. Employees’ COEs with e-signatures or mobile contacts are accepted, no explanation letters needed.

How to Apply – Step by Step

Step 1: Fill the Form

Download the 5-page visa application from the official Korea Visa Portal and prepare your basic documents: a passport-size photo with a white background and your original passport plus a photocopy of the bio-page.

Step 2: Submit Your Documents

Go to the Korea Visa Application Center (KVAC) at 9/F Brittany Hotel, BGC, Taguig. Walk-ins are welcome from Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 4 PM. You can also apply through designated travel agencies.

Step 3: Pay & Track

Pay the service fee of ₱900 in cash. If eligible, you can add an express fee of ₱500 for faster processing. Track your application using your reference number on the Korea Visa Portal.

Regular processing takes about 16 working days for short-term visas (C-3). Express processing takes 5–7 working days if you qualify.

With less stress and simpler requirements, planning your K-drama-worthy trip to Korea just got a whole lot easier for Filipino travelers.
