Sun Chaser drops new teaser featuring Charo Santos’ voice

The veteran actress lends her voice to one of the most anticipated Filipino animated projects of the year ahead of its premiere.

The upcoming Filipino animated series Sun Chaser has released a new trailer spotlighting Charo Santos-Concio, giving viewers a closer look at her role ahead of the show’s highly anticipated debut.

The series boasts an all-Filipino voice cast led by Manny Jacinto, Liza Soberano, Santos-Concio, Dingdong Dantes, AC Bonifacio, and KD Estrada, among others.

Inspired by Philippine mythology, the adventure-comedy follows teenager Jordan Santos as he embarks on a journey across enchanted seas to save his grandmother and protect his island from an ancient threat.

Sharing the trailer on Instagram, Santos-Concio expressed her excitement over the project, writing: “Proud and excited to be part of this beautiful Filipino animated series that celebrates our stories, our mythology, and our identity.” She also encouraged audiences to support the homegrown production when it premieres.

The trailer offers a glimpse into yet another chapter of a career that continues to evolve. This time, Charo’s voice helps guide a story that looks determined to bring Filipino mythology to audiences around the world.

The project has already earned international attention even before its release. Created by Bobby Pontillas and Bernard Badion, Sun Chaser won the Animation du Monde Prize at MIFA 2025 and is set to make its Annecy International Animation Festival debut this June.

Beyond its star-studded cast, Sun Chaser represents a growing moment for Philippine animation on the global stage. Produced entirely in the Philippines by Toon City and PlayLab Animation, the series places Filipino folklore, landscapes, and storytelling traditions at the center of an epic fantasy adventure.
