Taylor Swift goes dark and cinematic alongside Dakota Johnson in the haunting music video for “Patient Zero.”
Some love stories end when someone leaves. Others linger long after they’re gone.
Taylor Swift plays with that idea in the music video for “Patient Zero,” her latest visual from The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore. Premiering at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards, the gothic-inspired video stars Swift alongside Dakota Johnson and Colin Farrell, with Swift once again taking the director’s chair.

The dark narrative gives “Patient Zero” a gothic, psychological edge while exploring the connection between two women linked by the same toxic relationship. The video also features surprise appearances from Cara Delevingne and NFL quarterback Matthew Stafford, adding even more familiar faces to Swift’s latest visual.

“Patient Zero” premiered during the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards, where Swift also received the inaugural Artist Director Honors, recognizing her work and influence in music video direction.
The track is amongst the brand new tracks for The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore, with “Patient Zero,” “Cleveland!,” “Pink Clouding,” and “Babylon.”
