The Ashtine Era: A Multi-Genre Takeover of Nation’s Mutya

Nation’s ‘Mutya’ is set to captivate our hearts again (and again… and again!) with her upcoming anthology with “Viva One Originals: Ashtine”.

Rising supernova Ashtine Olviga is officially aiming for the stratosphere as her filmography expands at a breakneck pace, the young star is moving beyond her “Mutya” origins to prove she can anchor an entire multiverse of stories.

Her latest milestone, the Viva One Originals: Ashtine anthology that places her versatility at the forefront.

For the first time in the platform’s history, a single star is headlining a four-part anthology, with each episode dropping weekly to showcase a completely different facet of her acting prowess. From comedic timing to heartbreaking drama, Ashtine is serving a full-course meal of genres.

The journey begins on March 13 as Ashtine ventures into high-concept comedy with Who’s the Boss? directed by RC delos Reyes. In a classic body-swap twist, she plays the bright-eyed assistant to no less than comedy icon Rufa Mae Quinto. As a sharp-tongued CEO and her subordinate trade lives, the episode dives into themes of empathy and the true cost of power all while giving Ashtine the chance to channel Rufa Mae’s legendary comedic energy.

Following the laughs, the anthology shifts to romance on March 20 with My Melody, directed by Fifth Solomon. Ashtine plays Melody, a dedicated fangirl whose world is upended when her ultimate K-pop bias, Chanwoo (played by Korean star Lee Dae-won), relocates to the Philippines. Adding to the kilig and tension is singer Rob Deniel in his major acting debut, playing the best friend who has been quietly writing his own melody for her all along.

The atmosphere takes a chilling turn on March 27 with Balik-Eskwela. Inspired by viral horror content from the Book of Bad Ideas on TikTok and directed by Roni S. Benaid. What begins as an exciting first day of school spirals into a nightmare as she uncovers a horrifying truth about herself. Starring alongside Marco Gumabao and Sara Joe, this intense role pushes Ashtine into the realm of suspense and justice-seeking from beyond the veil.

Finally, the anthology reaches its emotional peak on April 3 with the family drama Bahay-Bahayan. Directed by Joy Aquino, this episode features a powerhouse pairing as Ashtine shares the screen with the “Optimum Star,” Claudine Barretto. Ashtine portrays a fiercely independent young woman struggling to reconnect with her mother after years of separation. It is a raw exploration of long-buried emotions and a painful truth that could either heal their bond or shatter it for good.

From her humble roots to gaining accolades and nominations, Ashtine Olviga’s evolution has been nothing short of extraordinary. With this anthology, she channels her versatility, ready to carry any story, in any genre, with absolute grace.
