Wendy Wraps First Solo World Tour with Sold-Out W:EALIVE Manila Show

Post-concert depression hit almost immediately after Wendy’s Manila show. Even after the lights came on and the music stopped, it still felt like the night had not really ended.

Wendy closed her first solo world tour with a sold-out W:EALIVE concert at the New Frontier Theater on January 17, brought to the Philippines by L-Squared Productions, who made the entire experience possible and seamless from start to finish. Manila served as the final stop of her 15-city tour, and the energy in the venue reflected that from the very first note.

She opened the night with “Fireproof,” “Hate²,” and “Queen of the Party,” immediately setting a  high-energy tone for the evening. The concert ran close to three hours, with Wendy performing around 22 songs, followed by three additional tracks for a second encore, keeping fans on their feet for nearly the entire night. Every performance was live with a full band, no backtrack, and she did not pause for water, maintaining energy and control from the first song to the last.

Fan favorites like “Like Water,” “EXISTENTIAL CRISIS,” and “Vermillion” were met with overwhelming crowd response, while her OST performances and carefully chosen covers added emotional depth and variety to the setlist. Each segment flowed seamlessly into the next, with Wendy ensuring that the audience never experienced dead air.

Wendy conducted the entire concert in English, making it easy for fans to follow her stories and jokes. She frequently removed her in-ear monitors when speaking, which allowed her to interact more directly with the crowd. Her stage presence was effortless, with perfectly timed responses to chants and playful banter, keeping the audience engaged throughout.

Several fan interactions became standout moments. When fans requested a solo performance of “Zimzalabim,” Wendy appeared momentarily surprised before explaining that she could not sing it without her Red Velvet members, as they give her energy on stage. She later performed “Light Me Up,” changing the lyric from “Oh Boy” to “Oh Girl,” which immediately triggered louder cheers, prompting Wendy to jokingly point out the difference in response.

During her talk segments, Wendy also shared her love for Filipino food, mentioning that she had eaten at Jollibee and ordered adobo, a dish she always enjoys whenever she visits the Philippines. She expressed excitement to try halo-halo and Llao Llao, mispronouncing the yogurt dessert as “yo-yo,” which made the crowd laugh.

Another playful moment came when fans chanted “walang uuwi” as she mentioned eventually returning to Korea, and Wendy tried to repeat the phrase, mispronouncing it as “huhuwey,” laughing along with the audience as they cheered even louder.

Towards the end of the show, during her encore, fans prepared a fan-made video for Wendy. After watching it, she took a moment to read a heartfelt message to the audience, thanking them for their unwavering support throughout the tour. She also expressed gratitude to her team for working tirelessly behind the scenes, and the acknowledgment made her visibly emotional onstage, adding a sincere and intimate moment to the night.

After the second encore, Wendy briefly left the stage, and as fans were about to exit, they were asked to sit back down, because she returned for a final send-off. She then walked through every aisle across both the first and second floors, personally saying goodbye to fans before officially ending the show.

Named W:EALIVE, a combination of Wendy and We Alive, the tour was designed to explore a range of emotions, not just happiness, and Manila provided the perfect finale. For fans, the night did not feel like an ending, and the post-concert depression that followed was inevitable.
