Yulo Brothers share historic podium at Asian Championships

Carlos Yulo struck gold while younger brother Karl Eldrew Yulo claimed bronze , hitting a milestone for Philippine gymnastics.

The Yulo brothers delivered a historic moment for Philippine gymnastics after both landed on the podium in the men’s floor exercise final at the 13th Senior Artistic Gymnastics Asian Championships in China.

Olympic champion Carlos Yulo captured the gold medal with a score of 14.600, while younger brother Karl Eldrew Yulo secured bronze, giving the Philippines two medals in the same event. The achievement comes just days after both gymnasts advanced to the floor exercise final, fueling anticipation for a potential sibling podium finish.

Carlos had also qualified for the parallel bars and horizontal bar finals, while Eldrew booked spots in the floor exercise and horizontal bar finals during his first season competing at the senior level.

For Carlos, the victory adds another chapter to a career already filled with milestones, including his historic Olympic gold medal in floor exercise at the Paris Games and multiple world championship medals.

Meanwhile, the younger Yulo has enjoyed a breakthrough year since moving up to the senior ranks, highlighted by a floor exercise gold medal at the FIG World Cup in Antalya and several podium finishes across the World Cup circuit.

Beyond the medals themselves, the moment underscored the emergence of the Yulos as one of Philippine sports’ most compelling sibling stories for Philippine gymnastics on the international stage.
